Mr Armstrong is an experienced educator and school leader who began his teaching career in a comprehensive school in Newcastle Upon Tyne in 1980, teaching History and Physical Education. Since then he has held leadership positions in independent schools in the UK and in international schools in Kenya, Egypt, Jordan, China, Papua New Guinea, Korea, Thailand and now Uzbekistan. He is a committed IB teacher, having taught and managed IB MYP and IB DP courses in five different countries and is a firm believer in the enormous benefits that the IB courses bring in nurturing well balanced students, with the ability to outperform students from other systems at university. This is Mr Armstrong's third start up school and he is passionate about school development and improvement. He is very much looking forward to bringing his knowledge, skills and experience to WIST and to see the school develop, grow and reach its enormous potential in the very near future. On a personal level, he is hoping to improve his golf handicap while in Tashkent - miracles sometimes do happen!
