Mission – Wist – Westminster international school in Tashkent

Mission

Westminster International School in Tashkent will be known as an international centre of excellence within a Tashkent context. Our school will provide an education that prepares students to take their places in a contemporary world where it is difficult to predict the nature of work that will be faced by today’s primary-age children.

As educational researcher Karl Fisch (2006) explains:

“We are currently preparing students for jobs that don’t yet exist… using technologies that haven’t yet been invented … in order to solve problems we don’t even know are problems yet.”

With this sentiment in mind, our school curriculum focuses on personal, academic and learning strategies that will prepare children for the world of tomorrow, at home or abroad. Focusing solely on academic achievement is no longer sufficient to guarantee success; children and adults need a broader range of skills and knowledge to call upon in a world that is turbulent and dynamic. Westminster International School in Tashkent provides a wide variety of studies designed to foster not only intellectual growth but also individual creativity, collaboration skills, physical health and social and emotional well-being.

As a school, we aim to nurture the following values and behaviours in our students:

Wisdom

good judgement, kindness, altruism and tolerance; a respect for our heritage and family and community role models

Integrity

honesty, authenticity and reciprocity; an understanding of the need to do the right thing when faced with difficult choices

Scholarship

a sincere belief in lifelong learning and self-improvement; creative thinking balanced with diligent practice; a commitment to striving for excellence

Teamwork

social skills, collaboration, communication, respect for others and the ability to work towards a shared goal; a respect for our shared humanity

Our aim is to ensure that all children who undertake their education with us are not only happy and fulfilled as students, but take these positive qualities and exceptional preparation with them as they embark on university careers and fulfilling employment in the 21st century.
